I've been brainstorming this for over a year, trying to figure out how it would work, logistics and things like that, but I'm pleased to announce...
The Community of Fashion Illustration!
Something I hear a lot from Illustrators who take a course is that they love the community side of things, being in a group of fellow illustrators and being able to chat about arty stuff to your hearts content.
But I know when the courses end, the slack goes quiet and the community goes away.
So I wanted to create something that stopped that!
Illustration and art can be a relatively lonely job or pastime, a lot of working on your own hunched over a desk, so it's nice to be able to chat to likeminded people!
Which is something a lot of you love about the courses, and some of you have even met in real life which is so lovely to see!
So I'm creating a community hub where people can ask questions, share their work, meet new illustrators, make friends, everything!
Plus we'll do a monthly group Q&A with me on Zoom, to go over any questions you might have or just to have a general arty chat.
And I'm also planning on fortnightly art challenges, something to keep everyone more consistent with their work!
I need about 15-20 people to sign up before it can happen, we're going to take it 6 months at a time, so we'll begin in January 2026 and see how we get on!
I'll be opening the community up for an initial fee of £12.50 a month, but we're doing 6 month block of signing up as I need you all to commit to it as much as me!
This will be the only chance to sign up, once we kick off in January there's no way of joining in later until the initial 6 months have finished and I open sign ups again.
What DOES it include?
An invite to the Community Slack Group
A supportive community where you'll meet other illustrators, make friends, ask questions, get peer feedback and answers
Fortnightly art challenges
A monthly group Q&A with me on Zoom
What DOESN’T it include?
This isn't like a course slack where I'll be available 24/7 to answer questions or feedback on your work, this will be a community focus, so everyone is encouraged to answer people's questions and offer peer to peer feedback.
The monthly Q&A with me is a chance to ask questions and chat about general illustration things, it won't be an opportunity to get feedback on your website or illustrations, 1:1 mentoring sessions are available if that's what you're seeking!
When does it start?
It's going to start next year from January, once the initial 6 months are over in June I will open it further to anyone else who wants to join.
Why are you charging for it?
Because I'm greedy xoxo, nah it's two main reasons!
1. There's a fair bit of time taken in the logistics side of things, so it's to cover my time for that plus the monthly Q&A you get with me.
2. In my experience people don't value things they don't pay for, so the cost is to incentivise people to participate and separate those who are't going to contribute from those who will.
